Microsoft Warning Users

Some of you may have heard about a recent security exploit that is beginning to circulate around the globe. This new exploit is coming from attackers who are taking advantage of a vulnerability in Windows using infected USB Flash Drives.

This is also gaining lots of attention since Microsoft just ended support for Windows XP Service Pack 2 only days ago, so that means when a patch is ready, Windows XP SP2 users won’t be receiving it. Users must upgrade to either Windows XP SP3, Vista or Windows 7. However no OS is safe at the moment, this new exploit affects Windows 7 as well, it even affects the Windows 7 Service Pack 1 Beta which was released last week.

Computer Business is Still Using XP

We reported yesterday that Microsoft had extended downgrade rights for Windows XP from Windows 7, but the reason seems to stem from the fact that a reported 74% of work PCs are still running Windows XP.

This seems odd given that it was also recently reported that 50% of business either have or are ready to upgrade to Windows 7. So what’s the anomaly and what’s causing the problem?

The problem is three-fold in the business space. The first hurdle is that installations of Windows 7 will normally come with new PCs and far too many businesses are still tightening their belts and waiting for the ‘green shoots’ of worldwide economic recovery. While PC sales generally are healthy, they are much lower than they would be if the downturn hadn’t happened.

The second reason is the learning curve. While people may be far happier moving to Windows 7 than they were moving to Vista, there is still the cost and time of training staff with the new operating system. One good way around this is to put it off until lots of staff have new PCs at home, so they are either au-fait with it already or can train each other. I know this is a cynical view but it’s quite common.

Finally there’s the ‘major’ stumbling block and this is Windows Server. Ever since Windows Server got a complete overhaul in 2003 it’s been a fantastic server product, Windows Server 2008 makes it even better.

These server products can help mitigate a great many of the shortfalls of Windows XP, certainly where security is concerned, as the group policy, security policy, patch rollout and monitoring tools are excellent.

It still remains to be seen where the anomaly between the two figures we’ve seen now fits. Will this 74% figure change soon, especially when Service Pack 1 is released later in the year, or will businesses doggedly stick with Windows XP and the secure Windows Server combination? It’s an interesting year coming for WIndows 7

Windows 7 Goes to 64-bit Computing

The realization of 64-bit computing probably won’t hit the masses until more developers and computer manufacturers take advantage of the newer architecture, but that isn’t stopping users from flocking in droves to the latest technology and Windows 7 is helping.

The Windows Blog and other sources have recently published numbers which look very good for the future of both Windows and Microsoft. Their numbers suggest that 64-bit processors are the current trend in computers running Windows 7, which makes sense. According to the chart below, nearly 46% of Windows 7 computers are running the 64-bit flavor of Windows.

There are a few reasons given for the uptick in 64-bit adoption: the price of RAM has gone down considerably than in past years, nearly all computers sold now come standard with 64-bit capable hardware, Windows 7 64 is the OS option most computers now offer, the software and hardware compatibility factor is now a non-issue, for the most part.

We knew it was coming, but I didn’t think it would be Windows 7 that would have been the Windows to finally move most users to the newer processor technology. Keep in mind that other companies, namely Apple, are also shipping iMacs and MacBook’s with only 64-bit hardware, so the swing in 64-bit usage was inevitable.

How about you? Are you still clinging to Windows 7 32-bit or another Windows version with 32-bit capability? What’s your reason for not switching and do you expect to make the leap come Windows 8?

In fact, before Paul was so flattered and honored residents of Germany. Therefore, predictions about the German trip in South Africa (South Africa) is always true.

He was regarded as a lucky talisman. But, it's also because the majority of Paul's prediction is more pro-German. Yes, since success led Inter won the treble winners and performed brilliantly at the time brought the Dutch national team qualify for the World Cup finals, the first since 32 years ago, Sneijder's name was immediately soared. Microsoft Office 2010 Certification

For years, Microsoft and other companies like Cisco and Novell, have offered certifications to help validate a technical skill set. It could be servers, routers, or networking as the knowledge base became more sophisticated so did the need to demonstrate proficiency.

With the release of Office 2010 Microsoft is extending the certification track to applications. This is not the first time as Microsoft has had certifications for its Office 2003 and 2007 suite. The difference now is that in today’s economy expertise is valued and can make the difference in whether one gets a job or even a job interview.I am a technical trainer for New Horizons in Texas, and I have pushed various certifications and certification tracks to the students that enroll in our program. The MCSE (Networking Engineer), MCSA (networking knowledgeable but not at the engineer level), MCITP (specialized in different technical areas), MCTS (specialized exams), MDPD (programming), are certs that have on more than one occasion have led to job interviews, and employment as well. This even though some students come in with a wealth of technical experience; they weren’t even able to get an interview. But the cert changed that.

The MOS (Microsoft Office Specialization) cert that Microsoft is touting gives consumers a knowledge base that many didn’t have before, or only skimmed over. Take Excel for instance; many users of Excel have a basic understanding of the spreadsheet program. Their knowledge comes up short on areas of If Statements, and advanced formula construction.

The MOS certification program is designed to prepare students and professionals for the work force and college. Many high schools are offering MOS training to help students prepare for college or the work force. MOS helps individuals gain mastery of all Microsoft Office applications including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, SharePoint Server, and Project.

The 2010 MOS certification programs provide three levels of certification: Specialist, Expert and Master. Each successive level requires individuals to master a greater number of programs. Testing is conducted by Certiport, a commercial testing service, at more than 10,000 testing sites in schools and businesses around the world.

Carles Puyol Bring Spain to Final

Spain dominated an absorbing first-half chess match but failed to break the deadlock against a Germany side who had their fair share of chances.

Both teams made one change from their regular line-up: Piotr Trochowski replaced the suspended Thomas Mueller for the Germans while out-of-form Fernando Torres was dropped in favour of Pedro Rodriguez in the Spanish side.

Germany kicked off but immediately and happily surrendered possession as they invited Spain to attack. The cagey opening was halted by an intruder streaking onto the pitch, but it was the European champions who carved out the first real chance of the game on six minutes.Pedro slipped in a sublime through ball to David Villa, who just managed to get a touch to it but it wasn’t enough to trouble an alert Manuel Neuer.

La Furia Roja continued to camp out inside the German half as Bastian Schweinsteiger and Mesut Oezil provided glimpses of threat on the counter-attack for Die Mannschaft. But it was the Spaniards again who had the next chance after 13 minutes. From a short corner, Andres Iniesta drilled in a cross from the right flank and Carles Puyol stooped low to send a bullet header just over the bar.

Straight to the other end, an Oezil corner forced Iker Casillas to flap the ball nervously away as Joachim Loew’s side started to enjoy a bit more of composure and possession on the ball. Spain regained control as quickly as they gave it away, although they failed to create any meaningful goalscoring chances.

In fact, the next opportunity didn’t arrive until the half-hour mark and even then, Xabi Alonso’s 25-yard screamer flew wide of Neuer’s left post. Trochowski then showed how it was done when his left-footed pliedriver from a similar distance forced Casillas to make a brilliant sprawling save.

Oezil managed to create more panic in the Spain box when he shimmed past two defenders but hesitated when he prepared to pull the trigger as Puyol pinched the ball off him. Vicente del Bosque’s troops finished the half the stronger with Sergio Ramos, Iniesta and Pedro creating openings, but it was Oezil who had a penalty shout turned down right before the whistle after a challenge from Ramos.
Neither coaches made any changes of personnel at the break, but it was Germany who looked the more adventurous side in the start of the second period. And it was suddenly Spain who were playing on the counter attack. Pedro bombarded 50 yards down the right wing beating a number of German defenders before pulling the ball back to Xabi Alonso, who could only fire wide despite a clean view on goal.

Seconds later, Xabi rattles in another humdinger just outside the box after being teed up by Xavi, but again his effort flashed marginally wide.

La Roja should have taken the lead on 57 minutes when they were presented with a double chance. First, Pedro’s shot on the edge of the box was parried away by Neuer. From the follow up, Iniesta’s pull-back into the middle bounced too far infront of Villa at the backpost. Pedro then dragged his shot wide before Miroslav Klose pummelled an ambitious volley well over at the other end after a poor clearance from Sergio Ramos.

The flurry of chances sparked the game to life and on 63 minutes, Xabi Alonso curled in a cross to an over-lapping Ramos, who went down under a challenge from Lukas Podolski right infront of goal but the referee only pointed to a goal-kick. Five minutes later, Villa charged past Marcell Jansen on the right channel but his fierce drive from a tight angle was saved by Neuer.

Germany then came close when Toni Kroos connected with Podolski’s cross but his soft half volley at the far post was blocked by Casillas. The Nationalelf were on the ascendecy but on 72 minutes, they were stung when Spain rocketed into the lead. Xavi swung in a corner and Carles Puyol steamed in unmarked to thump an unstoppable header past Neuer into the top corner.

The Germans immediately started pushing forward and it was Spain’s turn to hit their opponents on the counter. With ten minutes to go, La Roja should have wrapped up the semi-final when Pedro was put clean through on goal but opted to dribble his way past Arne Friedrich instead of going for goal or squaring to an unattended Fernando Torres.

Torres himself then had a chance two minutes from the end but Friedrich robbed the ball off him just as he was about to pull the trigger. Spain were enjoying a nice spell of keep-ball possession inside the German half as the clock ticked down and it was enough for them to hold on for another 1-0 win, but one that secures them a passage into the final of the 2010 World Cup.

Bali Nature

Bali is also blessed with a beautiful nature. Endless sand beaches envelope most of Bali's shores, where silvery waves come home to. Tall cliffs border the eastern shores. Volcanic mountains crown the center of Bali, home to Gunung Agung (Mount Divine), the sacred abode of the gods and the goddesses. Green forests stretch on from east to west of the northern part of Bali, nurturing numerous flora and fauna that can only be found here. Bedugul
When the heat and humidity gets to you, why not escape to Bedugul. Bali's highland retreat tucked into the crater of an extinct volcano 1400 metres above sea level.

Here three lakes provide everything from recreation to the water for springs, rivers and rice fields below. Lush pine forests seem to create a freshness in the air. Bedugul is known for the quality of its fruit, vegetables and flowers.
Kintamani
The spectacular mountainous region around Kintamani with its deep crater lake and bubbling hot springs, make this region a must to visit. Lake Batur is the largest lake in Bali and the region offers some of the most spectacular views to be found anywhere on the island. Lake Batur also provides water for an underground network of streams and springs across the southern slopes of the mountain.

The district is the earliest known kingdom in Bali, dating from the tenth century. The evenings get cool up here but it's well worth the stay overnight to climb the volcano and watch the sunrise. Many cheap losmens are available here.

Forlan Disappoint

Uruguay captain Diego Forlan declared himself disappointed following his sides 3-2 defeat to Netherlands in the semi-final of the World Cup in Cape Town.

Forlan had canceled out Giovanni van Bronckhorst's stunning opener to leave the sides level at the break but la Celeste eventually fell to two second half goals from Wesley Sneijder and Arjen Robben despite a late effort from Maximiliano Pereira.

"The truth is that I have a bitter taste, because there were more difficult games than this," he was quoted as saying by El Pais before revealing that he was not in ideal shape for the game.

"Personally, I feel useless because I was not in a good enough physical state to be able to perform at my best. Collectively I think it was very good, but it cost us a lot to get the second goal, they got two in those four minutes and that settled it.

"I was not contributing anything to bother them so it was better that another player came in. I was tired. I believe I will be okay, now it hurts but I hope to make the [third place play-off] game, it's still several days away. We all hope to be well enough to play for third place. We are all very proud even though we lost."

Can Spain Beat German Again?

The average age of the Germany team that started against Argentina in the quarterfinals of the World Cup was only 25, which speaks volumes. For a team as young as Germany, indeed it is an achievement in itself to have reached as far as the semifinals of the World Cup outside of Europe. Moreover, among the four remaining teams in South Africa, Germany has been by far the most impressive side and have also had the most difficult path to the semis. The group stage was relatively easy, but England in the last 16 was a tough proposition and so was Argentina. However, Die Mannschaft blew away both Fabio Capello's and Diego Maradona's sides, scoring four goals against each. In fact, Germany have scored four goals in three different games in the World Cup so far — it started the campaign with a 4-0 hammering of Australia.

Germany's football too has been scintillating with players in every position clicking. The defense looks susceptible, but with their midfielders Sami Khedira and Bastian Schweinsteiger protecting the back four and also providing the impetus for attack, the 2006 World Cup semifinalists have been hugely impressive.

Game For Windows 7

Right now, the newest version of the Windows operating system, known as Windows 7, is close to being released to the general public for sale. Like previous versions of Windows software, there will be new features to discover and play around with, especially in the games department. If you ever wondered what kind of preinstalled games Windows 7 has to offer, then here is your chance to find out.Windows 7 Desktop Games

Windows 7′s built-in game catalog will come well-stocked with interesting games that help pass the time. Most of these games were brought over from Windows Vista, such as Chess Titans, Hearts, Mahjong Titans and Purble Place. Old-school favorites such as Minesweeper, Solitaire and FreeCell also make a comeback from other Windows versions. The only troubling thing about this new lineup of games is that one is noticeably missing from the picture. For some reason, Inkball, a game that can be found on Windows Vista, is a no-show in Windows 7. But considering that Windows 7 is still close to the release candidate stages, anything can change.
The Windows 7 operating system also comes with Internet games such as Internet Backgammon, Internet Checkers and Internet Spades. These games have been noticeably revamped in comparison to their older predecessors, both in looks and feel. With these internet games, you can square off against human competitors online, with three skill levels that match you to equally skilled opponents no matter where they are on the globe, and if your opponent drops out of the game, the computer picks up where they left off in order to finish the game. You can also choose between different card and background designs, as well as track your win and loss stats.
With all of these fun built in games on hand, you are sure to pass the time away in enjoyment. If you haven’t had enough fun, you can also get more games from Microsoft’s MSN Games website just by clicking on the Play Free Games on MSN Games located in the right hand panel of the Games folder.

Now you don’t have to be content with just the games that come with the Windows 7 operating system. There are also games you can buy for your computer that are largely compatible for the Windows 7 operating system, depending on the performance of your machine. You can check the second tab located in the right hand panel within the Games folder to briefly check your computer’s overall performance rating, just in case you want to make sure that your machine has what it takes to run your favorite games.

German Hummer Argentina

Three months ago Argentina coach Diego Maradona approached a postgame interview podium, eyed this young German already sitting there and immediately dismissed 20-year-old Thomas Mueller as a ball boy. He then refused to share an interview stage with him.

Earlier this week, Maradona responded to criticism of his team’s style of play from Germany’s rising star Bastian Schweinsteiger by peering into a camera and in a mock German accent issuing a famed Argentinean political taunt: “What’s the matter Schweinsteiger? Are you nerrrvoushhh?”

So there was the “nervous” German delivering a crossing free kick in the third minute of Saturday’s quarterfinals game between the two rivals. And there was the “ball boy” heading it home to start what would be Germany’s 4-0 gutting of Argentina. Later, Schweinsteiger again looked rather calm and collected as he deftly dribbled through the confused Argentina defense to set up an embarrassingly easy third goal.

Schweinsteiger would be named man of the match. Mueller would leave to rousing cheers.

And Diego Maradona, he of the mouth that never stops yapping, was left alone, mumbling in misery as he paced in front of the bench during the final minutes of this historic beat down.

This was annihilation. This was humiliation. And this was an epic reversal of fortunes – these two young Germans doing the impossible: turning Diego Maradona completely upside down.

“This is the most disappointing moment in my life,” Maradona said in a humbled press conference. “This is really like a kick in the face. I have no more energy for anything.”

Like a punctured soccer ball, all the air, all the life had been sucked out of the flashy, sassy Argentines. Their star, Lionel Messi, was a mess, reduced to an apologetic, crying postgame dressing room lump, bounced from the tournament without registering a goal.

The nation’s confident fans – bolstered when rival Brazil was upset Friday – had come out by the thousands only to shuffle from the stadium in silence with German victory songs ringing in their ears.

And, mostly, there was Maradona, who had made every move with supreme confidence and unapologetic flair. Mueller and Schweinsteiger were nothing special – the guy gets into fights with everyone, starting with Pele and working his way down. It’s part of his charm. It defines his daring ways.

In these young German stars of this young German team, though, Maradona found his match. They were willing to talk back at him. Mueller, who now has four goals in this World Cup, noted that things had changed from the teams’ March friendly, which Argentina won 1-0. This week, he said he wasn’t afraid of a postgame fight (a la the 2006 World Cup quarterfinal between these two teams) as long as Germany won.

The 25-year-old Schweinsteiger, meanwhile, boldly engaged the Argentine coach, continuing to fill the role of leader on a youthful team whose captain, Michael Ballack, had to miss the World Cup with an ankle injury.

“I love to take on the strongest, to be honest with you,” Schweinsteiger said in admitting he preferred to play Spain in Wednesday’s semifinal but saying so much more. It was, of course, a Maradona kind of line, one that that might fire up Paraguay should it, and not Spain, advance.

“They are fearless,” German coach Joachim Loew said of his team’s many young players. “Not disrespectful, but fearless.”

And that was the other part. It’s one thing to take on Maradona in a talk-fest. It’s another to storm his team on the pitch. The game changed forever in that second minute, when Mr.-Are-You-Nervous passed to the Ball Boy who headed it in to give Germany a 1-0 lead. From there the Germans sat back, double-teamed Messi and made dangerous counter attacks.

“We knew they were very dangerous on set pieces,” Maradona said shaking his head. “The first set piece they had … I don’t know. … We gave Germany lots of good ideas. … They had lots of ideas. Ideas they didn’t have before.”

The Germans weren’t much for gloating. Their coach, Loew, said they tend to leave their excitement in the dressing room, what with the stakes so high. But it’s human nature for them to watch the hunched figure of Diego Maradona explain the pain they had just inflicted on him.

“Just complete sad[ness],” he said. “The day I stopped playing football was similar. This sadness is very strong. It’s tough. It’s tough because … we all had this goal, this dream. And we were just thinking of winning over Germany and the opposite happened.

“I lived through this in [the 1982 World Cup] as a player. But I was a boy and I didn’t really realize the importance of things today. Today, I am 50 years old in October, and I am mature.”

Down the hall the Germans, so many still what Maradona would call “boys,” were still reliving Schweinsteiger’s impossible slalom run through the Argentinean defense before passing to Arne Friedrich for an easy knock in.

“The way he set up Friedrich to score a goal was absolute second to none,” Loew said. “You couldn’t play any better. He went through three, four, five players then pretends to play a pass and then passes it back.

“He was fabulous,” Loew added. “He was basically the lynch pin in every attack we had.”

There was nothing to it, Schweinsteiger smiled. It was a team effort he said. “I can only be good if the team is good,” he noted.

Oh, the team is good, eviscerating world powers England and Argentina in two knockout round games by a combined score of 8-1, pushing to the cusp of unexpected history and, of course, sucking the life out of an old soccer icon along the way.

From the ball boy on up, no one’s nervous in Germany. Delivering an emphatic comeuppance tends to foster the precise opposite emotion.
